I want to dispel a couple of misconceptions about AI and use my personal experiences to reveal the truth about these misconceptions. Many people believe AI is here to replace human creativity or that it’s a cold, unfeeling machine that takes over our work. But in my experience, AI has done the opposite — it’s empowered my creative process and inspired me to think in new, more profound ways. I want to share this sense of empowerment with you, my fellow creative professionals and writers, to boost your confidence and inspire you to embrace AI as a creative tool.

Let me explain. For years, I, like most people, believed that writing was a solitary act, something deeply personal. However, once I started working with AI, I realized it was about more than AI doing the work for me. AI became my collaborative partner, enriching my writing process. When I write with AI, it’s like having a brainstorming partner on standby with fresh perspectives, prompting me to explore angles I might not have considered. AI helps me connect ideas clearly and coherently, which I’ve found incredibly valuable. It stirs my thoughts and pushes me to dig deeper into the creative process without destroying my authorship, making me feel part of a larger creative community.

One of the biggest misconceptions I want to challenge is that AI somehow diminishes creativity.

I’ve found the opposite to be true. Writing with AI exercises my brain in deeply satisfying ways. AI challenges me to refine my ideas, build on them, and express them more clearly. In one of my articles, How Writing with AI Exercises Your Brain, I discuss how engaging with AI forces me to think more deeply about my work. This intellectual stimulation and engagement with AI has taken my creative output to a level I hadn’t imagined possible. It’s not just about generating ideas; it’s about refining them into something meaningful and original.

Another misconception is that creativity is something reserved for the naturally gifted or that sharing your creative work opens you up to criticism that’s best avoided.

I used to feel this way until I embraced AI as part of my creative journey. In The Hidden Struggle of Creativity: Overcoming the Fear of Criticism, I discussed how many of us are held back by the fear of putting our work on display. But by collaborating with AI, I could experiment and refine my ideas in a space free from judgment.

Collaborating with AI allowed me to build confidence in my creative abilities and the courage to share my work with others. AI became my partner, helping me overcome that fear and find joy in creativity again.

Then there’s the concern that AI is just a tool for copying or stealing ideas. But let me tell you, AI is far more than that. When used ethically and creatively, AI helps you transform existing concepts into something entirely your own, ensuring the originality and uniqueness of your work. I want to share this reassurance about the security and confidence AI brings to your creative process with you, my fellow creative professionals and writers, to inspire you to embrace AI as a creative tool.

I explore how AI helps me remix ideas ethically and innovatively in The Art of Remixing in the Age of AI. It’s not about copying — it’s about transformation. AI enables me to adapt existing concepts to my perspectives, ensuring I create fresh content that reflects my ideas. It’s a form of creative evolution where AI becomes a tool for innovation rather than replication. This is what I believe AI is truly capable of — helping us push boundaries, not just recycle old ideas.

So, let’s set the record straight: AI isn’t here to replace creativity; it’s here to amplify it.

AI is a powerful tool that helps me think more deeply, explore new ideas, and create in ways I never imagined. As a result, I’ve become a prolific writer, with over 260 articles published on Medium.

Whether you’re writing, brainstorming, or remixing old concepts with your ideas, AI should be a vital part of your creative process, just as it has become a part of mine.

Embrace it, and you’ll find it opens doors to creativity on a level that is literally life-changing.
