a V-shaped recovery was optimistic in March. Clinging to that position today borders on delusional.
Realize this; almost everything you read on what will happen in 2020 is written from a highly subjective perspective. Sure there is also insightful, objective reporting, but by and large, the subject is smothered by loads of content that has ulterior motives.
I feel I can class myself in the “objective” category of writing, even if at times I drift towards a slightly pessimistic view. What is clear to me is that we don’t come out of this where we went in.
The notion of a ‘V’ recovery is much more naive than a Pollyanna perspective. I say that because there are so many weak links in the global economic chain and those weak links will likely take years to strengthen; it could literally be a decade before we can say the global economy has stabilized.
It’s fair to say that there are billions of variations of perspectives on our current situation. And you can be absolutely certain that there’s someone, many people, doing it far tougher than you are. But that knowledge won’t ease your pain.
