This Election is America’s Choice of Starkly Contrasting Futures
As an Australian, I follow U.S. politics with profound respect for the United States and its role on the world stage. Having travelled to the U.S. over fifty times, lived in San Francisco for two years, and developed many deep friendships, I observe American politics as an ally and someone who recognizes America as a critical force for global stability — a counterbalance to tyranny and unethical leadership.
This post is offered with utmost respect for Americans’ democratic right to vote based on their values and ethics. Yet, as a friend and ally, I humbly ask that, in this election, Americans consider the far-reaching impact of their choice on the future of their family and the global community.
I respectfully urge Americans to reflect on the scale of institutional disruption if Donald Trump is elected President of the United States.
Three Reasons Kamala Harris is the Choice for America’s Future:
- Preserving the American Ideal: When democracy worldwide is threatened, America needs leaders who champion the values and institutions that protect our children’s futures. Kamala Harris embodies the strength, stability, and dedication to safeguard the Republic. She understands the gravity of her role, while her opponent has repeatedly degraded it.
- Protecting Women’s Rights: Imagine being a woman waking up on November 5th to discover your bodily autonomy is in the hands of Donald Trump — a man who has consistently disrespected women’s choices and rights. This election is critical for everyone who believes in the fundamental right of women to choose their path.
- Restoring Ethical Leadership: Ethics isn’t an option; it’s the foundation of a just society. Adm. William McRaven, who led the raid against Osama bin Laden, recently wrote that while Harris may not align with everyone politically, she will not threaten the press, mock fallen heroes, or undermine the Constitution. McRaven clarified that the presidency demands responsibility and respect for democratic norms. Harris offers a chance to maintain the dignity of the White House.
The Stakes Couldn’t Be Higher
As disturbing as it is to put this in writing, recent events underscore the urgency of the choice on November 4th. Just a few nights ago in Milwaukee, a former president of the United States held a rally and used a microphone holder on his podium to pantomime the act of giving fellatio. There is no gentle way to describe this behavior.
Imagine that instead, I said, “A man who has shown signs of serious emotional instability and cognitive impairment engaged in crude behavior in front of a large audience.” While accurate, this description does not fully capture the reality Americans must contemplate. This man is tied in the race to become the next president — and in less than three months, he could be holding the codes to the U.S. nuclear arsenal, a situation that could have catastrophic consequences for the entire world.
This Election is America’s Choice of Futures:
Vote for Trump, and you’ll witness the destruction of democracy, the normalization of corruption, and further entrenched societal inequality. Or choose Kamala Harris for a fair, ethical, and hopeful future for all Americans.
On November 4th, your vote matters not just within America’s borders but across the globe. Putin, Kim Jong Un, and authoritarian leaders worldwide are rooting for Trump, hoping his reign will serve their own authoritarian goals. However, the rest of the world stands with Kamala Harris, a leader committed to democracy, fairness, and principled governance.
The choice is stark: choose a future ruled by tyranny or one built on justice, opportunity, and the values America has held dear since its birth as a Republic. Vote for Harris if you believe in an America that champions freedom, democracy, and ethical integrity.
